Urwerk presents the EMC TimeHunter Stormtrooper

For the new Urwerk EMC TimeHunter White Ceramic the nickname „Stormtrooper“ was chosen. Everyone who knows Baumgartner & Frei is not surprised by this choice because of their love of science fiction and the heavy influence of the Star Wars universe on their own designs over the years. The signature armour of the Stormtrooper was an instant icon ever since it appeared on screen in 1977. The Stormtrooper was designed to intimidate but also to look super cool and super clean.
The EMC Stormtrooper evokes the same characteristics. The whole watch belongs like it belongs in a sci-fi movie, and for this limited edition the white ceramic case set it apart from the previous models, indeed all previous Urwerk watches. Because gone is the trademark black look, as the manufacture embraces white for the first time in its history.

The EMC TimeHunter Stormtrooper belongs to the Ur-Chronometry family, which encompasses Urwerk watchmaking concepts dedicated to outstanding precision. An EMC TimeHunter is essentially a dual measuring instrument. Its appearance and even its surface all signal its nature. The EMC Stormtrooper is crafted from steel and its caseback from titanium. Its aesthetic is not round, square or cushion-like, nor indeed any of Urwerk’s signature indefinable shapes. This hyper-technical machine hugs the contours of the movement inside and submits to the constraints of its various organs. It is not symmetrical, regular, flat or curved, yet remains aesthetically pleasing and distinctive, embodying a truly unique personality.
Moreover, its stainless steel „hood“ is micro-beadblasted and then given a hard, matt ceramic lacquer-type treatment. As a result, the surface of the EMC TimeHunter „Stormtrooper“ has a grainy finish reminiscent of military equipment. The case measures 43 mm in diameter and 51 mm in length and is water-resistant up to 3 atm.

The same functionalism reigns on the dial with its matt black surfaces. Each indication zone has its own clearly marked space. Each unit is painted with fluorescent green Super-LumiNova to perfect the contrasts. In addition to the main dial with its chequered hand grenade pattern, which displays the hours and minutes, the EMC TimeHunter features a smal disc-type seconds hand at 1 o’clock, graduated in five-second increments. It is complemented by a power-reserve indicator at 7 o’clock.
The indications linked to the chronometric monitoring function are concentrated at 11 o’clock and indicated by the „EM Control“ marking on the screw-down bezel.

At the very heart of the EMC concept lies an electronic/mechanical system that makes each of these timepieces one-of-a-kind, bestriding two worlds. It is an entirely mechanical watch, optimised with the help of an electro-optical circuit. Designed exclusively for the EMC collections, the UR-EMC2 calibre is entirely crafted, finished, assembled and adjusted by Urwerk.
It incorporates an electronic module whose function it is to measure the rate of the mechanical part. It has its own power source, separate from the rest of the movement. On one side the engine, on the other, the control unit. These two integrated units make the EMC TimeHunter a truly wearer-adjustable watch.
The hand-wound movement works at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of a maximum of 80 hours.

The EMC TimeHunter Stormtrooper is a very limited edition of only 5 pieces.

Rado True Square x Tej Chauhan

The latest design collaboration of Rado is a pure expression of Emotive Industrial Design, created to celebrate the Master of Materials. And it brings the watch maker to the future in style. Tej Chauhan is an award-winning British industrial designer famous for its pioneering design. With flowing shapes, innovative high-tech ceramic and bold colours, the Rado True Square Tej Chauhan visualises the great futuristic visions of pop culture.
Rado has always looked toward the future, as have countless artists, directors and architects who repeatedly tired and are still trying to define the aesthetics of tomorrow. Many of their spacey, colourful, revolutionary designs have already achieved cult status.
Tej Chauhan and Rado found ideal partners in each other; both strategically use shape, colour, materials and contrast.

The basis of the collaboration was the new True Square – the first square watch made from solid high-tech ceramic, whose flowing shapes are created using injection moulding. The matt yellow ceramic case highlights the unique texture of the high-performance material and is combined with a case back in polished dark grey PVD-coated stainless steel with sapphire crystal and special engraving. The case measures 38 mm in diameter and is water-resistant up to 5 bar.
On the matt black dial with silver-coloured concentric circles, the hands provide strong contrasts from the centre: the minute and hour hands are painted in white, the second hand in neon red. In an opening at 3 o’clock, the date is displayed in a typography specially designed by Tej Chauhan. Blue indexes between 9 and 12 o’clock refer to the time of the day when things start moving – in the morning at the office or in the evening on a night out. Faceted sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside provides the best insights and impresses as an independent design element.

This watch is powered by a modern automatic calibre. The ETA C07.611works relentless and absolutely reliable and provides a power reserve of approximately 80 hours.

The Rado True Square x Tej Chauhan is complemented by a bracelet made from yellow leather elements held by ceramic connectors.

Rado Is in Touch with Its Feminine Side

Rado is proud to be known for a balanced collection which offers an equal range of watches for women as for men. It’s just one of the things that makes the manufacturer unique in the watch industry. And with the recently introduced, classic and minimalistic DiaMaster collection, Rado is now showing its softer side – without compromising the hardness and durability of their high-tech materials.

Rado has chosen mother-of-pearls for the DiaMaster-dials – and diamonds. The dial ring formed by the diamonds is the centrepiece of the watch and is the perfect foil for the all-new moonphase indicator.

For the case, Rado has opted for the rose coloured material Ceramos. It is a scratch-resistant mix of 90% high-tech ceramic and 10% metal alloy, and its rich beautiful hue contrasts perfectly with the overall minimalist design of the wristwatches. The monobloc case is with only 5.3 mm in height fantastically slim and measures less than 38 mm in diameter. This makes the watches of the DiaMaster collection suitable for all female wrists, even the slimmest. All cases offer a pressure resistance of up to 3 bar.

All new DiaMaster models are powered by Swiss-made quartz movements; more precisely by the ETA 282.002. The DiaMaster moon phase is equipped with the ETA F05.841. Quartz movements ensure that the watches are slim and therefore they are also light and they offer a high accuracy as well.

The pearl effect stamped leather straps form an optical unit in combination with the case and the mother-of-pearl dial. Thanks to the Rado EasyClip system all straps can quickly and easily exchanged to personalise each DiaMaster for a truly unique look.

Hublot Big Bang Depeche Mode „The Singles“ Limited Edition

Hublot and Depeche Mode are releasing a collector’s edition series of 55 unique Big Bang watches, inspired by each of the band’s 55 singles. All net proceeds from the sale will benefit charity: water. Hublot and Depeche Mode work together since 2010 – always for the benefit of the NGO.
One of the most influential, beloved and best-selling musical acts of all time, Depeche Mode have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have played to more than 30 million fans since their formation in 1981. And, in their 37-year career, Depeche Mode have released an incredible 55 singles, from „Dreaming of Me“ in 1981 to last year’s release of „Cover Me“.
In tribute to this achievement, the Swiss watchmaker Hublot introduces a collection of 55 unique pieces of its Big Bang Unico Model. „We are greatly honoured and moved by Hublot’s support of charity: water with this new collection of watches commemorating all of our singles,“ says Martin Gore, Depeche Mode’s main songwriter and founding member. Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, is also thrilled about the collaboration: „Depeche Mode are iconic in the history of contemporary music. We identify with their passion, stronger now than ever, and with their constantly growing creativity. We are lucky enough to share many values with them, including the commitment to the activities of the charity: water NGO.“

As previously mentioned are all 55 models unique pieces, basing on Hublot’s Big Bang. Each of the watches features, on its dial, a disc that partially shows the image of the record cover it represents, which is reminiscent of the very first model produced by the partnership between Hublot and Depeche Mode. The back of each watch features the entire cover of the single as well as the charity: water logo.
The case has a diameter of 45 mm and is made from polished black ceramic. They are water resistant up to 10 atm.
All  Big Bang Depeche Mode „The Singles“ watches are powered by UNICO movements. Produced by the Hublot manufacture. The automatic calibre HUB1242 is a flyback self-winding movement chronograph; it works at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a power reserve of 72 hours.

Each piece will be fitted with a strap in a colour specific to each model, completed with cuff straps in the same hue, and rock-and-roll inspired rubber studs.
A Roland JP-08 synthesiser will accompany each timepiece.  The Roland JP-08 is a limited-edition synth module from the Roland Boutique series, paying homage to the legendary Roland Jupiter 8 synth, used by Depeche Mode throughout the years.

Girard-Perregaux: The New Ceramic-Clad Laureato

For the first time in its history, the Laureato is welcoming a new version entirely clothed in black ceramic: the Laureato 42 mm Ceramic. Thus attired, the iconic Girard-Perregaux casual chic watch takes a walk on the dark side, but only to further enhance its charisma and its strong presence.
Like fans already know, the Laureato has a personality all its own. Its genetic code drives evolutions in various details of its appearance, while never distorting its essence.

The Laureato is defined by a polished octagonal bezel fitted on an integrated case, meaning with no lugs or loops. The use of ceramic further enhances its ergonomic qualities. This high-tech material is at once light, scratch-resistant and extremely well tolerated by the skin.
As horological icon, the Laureato continues playing with contemporary codes. This architectural watch adopts this new material like a natural extension of its nature. It absorbs the structural and ergonomic benefits of ceramic and applies them to the service of wearer comfort. Black in watches is an absolute fashion color and manufacturers like to chose it for more robust models and it suits the Laureato as if it were born that way. The interplay of polished and satin-brushed surfaces creates fascinating depth effects and enlivens the watch even when such a deep shade of black.
The case is water-resistant up to 100 metres.

The also black dial of the Laureato deeply impresses with a stunning Clou de Paris-hobnail motif which adds a three-dimensional structure. Hands and indices are enhanced with luminescent material and the date on its black disc is also white, adding up to an ideal legibility. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal.
The Girard-Perregaux is powered by an automatic movement, the GP01800-0025. This calibre works at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a power-reserve of approximately 54 hours.

In donning a ceramic mantle in the darkest shade of all, the Laureato displays the strength and relevance of its design – leger, elegant and classic. And the quality Girard-Perregaux delivers is always beyond doubt. So what’s not to like?

Nocturnal Camouflage: Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Black Camo

Bell & Ross has become a reference in the instrument watch field, making aviation watches and has, as part of this quest, forged links with the world of the military. As a result, the watchmaker works regularly with professional elite units of the french military.
In 2007, Bell & Ross launched the Phantom concept, the Commando collection came two years later, in 2009. The launch of these watches, which were inspired by aeronautical instrumentation, heralded a foray into new territory and were among the first to use a camouflage coating in a horological setting. The new BR 03-92 Black Camo represents another link in the Bell & Ross camouflage watch series.

The Phantom concept was one of the first to use the full black military coating. It features an antireflective matte black coating reminiscent of the surface of a stealth plane. Its numerals, indices and hands are covered with a photo luminescent coating. The Commando is part of the same lineage of avant-garde camouflage instrument watches and features a military-inspired coating. Its cases, numerals and indices are covered in deep matte black, and its dial in matte gray. This collection is aimed at the elite units, the military commandos, and the response teams who operate covertly.

The new BR 03-92 Black Camo is the lates addition to the series and for this model, Bell & Ross has developed an original military-type tricolor coating. Its dial is covered with a patchwork of matte greys, its case and strap in matte black. Especially at night, this timepiece is practically undetectable because its matte-treated colours avoid the risk of undesirable reflections. Like in the two earlier versions, the Black Camo also comes with luminescent coating. Not risking detecting is one thing, but the watch still has to be legible.

The simple time display is based on the brand’s visual signature: large numerals accompanied by batons indices for perfect legibility. The design of the hands is also distinctive. The four large numerals impressive in both design and size, are also a Bell & Ross classic. The sandwich type dial is made up of two superposed inserts. The lower one has a black Super-LumiNova coating while the upper one carries the camouflage pattern. The die cutting for the numerals and indices reveals the black Super-LumiNova which guarantees best legibility, both day and night.

The watch is powered by the BR-CAL.302, a Swiss Made self-winding mechanical calibre.
The 42-mm-case of the BR 03-92 Black Camo uses mass-coloured ceramic. This material is wear-resistant and extremely durable as well as comfortable to wear in the heat and cold. The case is also water-resistant up to 100 metres which makes this watch perfectly resilient to environmental challenges.
The watch comes with a black rubber and synthetic fabric strap.
