Striking and hefty: The Hindenberg Independence

For everyone who likes a hefty watch on the wrist, the Hindenberg Independence is an excellent choice. It is big, heavy and bulky. This watch is a tool you definitely won’t hide under your shirt cuff.

Hindenberg Stahl Silber frontThis watch is equipped with some interesting features. The heart of the watch is the automatic calibre H-09.160 with 20 jewels. It displays hours, minutes and seconds as well as the date, the day of the week and the month. On 6 o’clock the dial shows a sun-/moon-display, on 3 o’clock you will find the date window with the brand name next to it.
The hands are the most important and visible part of the dial. Like the numbers on 2, 4, 8 and 10 o’clock they are glowing in the dark to enhance legibility even under difficult circumstances. This wristwatch in general is very easy to read. The seconds hand brings a touch of paint to the dial and the red corresponds well with the overall design. Everything is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Hindenberg Stahl SilberLike mentioned before, the Hindenberg Independence is a watch that definitely attracts attention. It measures 44 mm in diameter and the thickness is 13 mm. The weight is also something worth mentioning – 211 grams in total. The stainless steel bracelet is solid which is absolutely required to keep this watch on stable on your wrist. Like all metal bracelets it can be a bit of a hair puller, but on a watch this size and with these rugged looks a leather strap would simply be no alternative. The size is also so apparent that you will constantly reminded of this watch while wearing it.
The two pushers are large and easy to press. The Hindenberg Independence is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

This model comes in four different variations – with a silver, black, blue or green dial. Although the dial remains unaltered, the change in the overall looks of the watch is pretty amazing. This may be a surprisingly hard choice.

Stunning In White Gold And Blue: The New Arnold & Son DSTB

bb-Arnold_Son_DSTB_Blue_WGDemonstrating its rich British history and quality Swiss craftsmanship, Arnold & Son unveils a new limited white gold edition of the BSTB (Dial Side True Beat). The DSTB is a testament to its heritage, vision and Haute Horlogerie ingenuity.

The DSTB is part of the Instrument Collection and, like every other model from Arnold & Son, features an in-house mechanical movement. The true beat seconds is a traditional complication of Arnold & Son, and this watch pays tribute to the watches produced by John Arnold during the second half of his career.
Upholding that legacy, Arnold & Son’s master watchmakers thrive on creating complicated movements for exquisite timepieces. Such is the case with the DSTB watch, a truly innovative technical and architectural achievement. The newly developed automatic movement showcases the true beat seconds‘ mechanism entirely on the dial side. Not just the hands, but also the lever, wheels and three true beat seconds bridges are located on the dial side. The true beat seconds lever is shaped like an anchor – paying homage to Arnold’s maritime achievements.

Arnold_Son_DSTB_Blue_WG_front_klThe true beat seconds are indicated via a large sapphire dial that occupies the top left portion of the dial at 11 o’clock. At the 4 o’clock position, a domed and white lacquered subdial indicates the hours and the minutes via blued hands. These overlapping indications translate into a stunning three-dimensional dial.

The self-winding calibre A&S6003 has 229 components. The palladium treated movement features Haute Horlogerie finishing with hand-chamfered and satin-finished lever and bridges, polished edges and fine circular graining. The visible dial plate is blue PVD treated with large circular finishing.

This Arnold & Son timepiece is housed inside a 43.5 mm 18-carat white gold case with anti-reflective sapphire crystal and caseback for viewing the finished movement. It is completed by a hand-stitched strap, made from black alligator leather.
This edition of the DSTB will be limited to 125 pieces.

Panerai: Radiomir 1949 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso 45 mm

The Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso 45 mm is an exclusive Special Edition where the beauty and simplicity of the case is combined with the P.2003/10 in-house movement.
The case of the watch is immediately recognisable by its lines of exemplary simplicity, a testimony to the purity of Italian design of the 1930s and 1940s, is made of red gold, and is 45 mm in diameter.

Panerai-Radiomir-1940-10-Days-GMT-Automatic-1-624x478The brown dial has an elegant satiné soleil finish and an impeccable aesthetic balance which enables all the functions of the watch to be read immediately and clearly. The structure of the dial is the classic sandwich, invented by Panerai to provide the maximum visibility and legibility of its indications even in very low light conditions: two superimposed discs contain the luminous material which shines through the holes made in the upper disc, which correspond to the dial markings.
The brown dial is sun-brushed and showes the date at 3 o’clock, the 24-hour-indicator at 8 o’clock and a linear power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock. It is protected by a sapphire crystal formed of corundrum.

1033671.png.adapt.646.1024The automatic mechanical P.2003/10 calibre is executed entirely by Panerai. With a diameter of 31 mm and three spring barrels which give the watch a power reserve of ten days, the movement has 25 jewels and a balance spring which makes 28,800 vibrations per hour. The main functions are hours, minutes and small seconds, date and linear indication of the remaining power reserve.
The back of the watch is made from see-through sapphire crystal so the amazing movement can be observed while working.

The Radiomir 1940 10 Days Automatic is supplied with a brown alligator strap. The case is water-resistant to 5 bar – a depth of about 50 metres.

When you desire one of these gorgeous watches you’ll better be quick – there will only be made 150 units. The good news: In black as well, and that makes 300 in total.

Stainless steel, sapphire glass, zirconia and ETA – anyway it’s quite promising. Now it’s getting to the real thing!

A big sparkling watch appears out of the storage box in the colour variation „steel“. Already now the size and the weight of this watch are impressing you. The finishing appears at the first look of very good quality. Well, we want to open the watch !

The outer appearance

André Belfort Comète silverSparkling, everything is sparkling ! The stainless steel bracelet as well as the case or the dial are gemmed with small sparkling stones (cubic diamonds). The day display is embbeded on the 12 with the logo André Belfort underneath it. The date display is on the 3 and the lettering „AUTOMATIC“ on the 6. The central watch hands are kept in a soft green colour and gives a strong contrast to the silvery dial underneath it. It allows to read the time perfectly !

The design is different and doesn’t please everybody. Basically this watch is rather something for extravagant people. Furthermore the suitable clothes have to be found. Tastes are but quite personal.

The finishing on the outside is immaculate. Nothing bounces, every part fits wonderfully to the other one and scratches are not to be found. Of great quality ! Last but not least because the used materials whose properties and colours do harmonize wonderfully with each other ! The stainless steel is without nickel which means that it qualifies for allergic persons. Let’s now look inside of the Comète:

After having opened it, the trained eye catches sight the solid of the brand quality of ETA. The movement ETA 2834-2, as far as we can see, built in without change and knows how to convince of its long-life cycle. There is a reason why Switzerland is well known for its watches, especially for their movements. It doesn’t matter how critical you look at its inner life, we cannot find any weakness in this André Belfort watch.

Conclusion

André Belfort delivers with the Comète a design watch very well manufactured. During our tests we couldn’t possibly find any mistake. The design is uncompromisingly modern and surely not for every taste. Nevertheless whoever to whom it appeals, has found the perfect companion with the Comète of André Belfort and will have a lot of joy with it.
