This year, A. Lange & Söhne presented three extraordinary models of the 1815 watch family with the epithet „Homage to F. A. Lange“. The three limited editions with cases made of honey gold as well as special movement decorations and dials are dedicated to Ferdinand A. Lange and the foundation of the manufactory 175 years ago.
IN 2020, A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating not only its 175th anniversary, but also the 30th anniversary of a courageous new beginning. Inspired by long-standing tradition, the watchmakers of A. Lange & Söhne today strive to advance precision watchmaking with innovative ideas and excellent craftsmanship. Their driving motivation of never standing still is also reflected in the new anniversary edition „Homage to F. A. Lange“.

The 1815 watch family, which bears the birth year of the founder in its name, is inspired by tradition and therefore primarily stands for the classic side of A. Lange & Söhne. The family’s design transports the spirit of the pocket watches of yesteryear to the mechanical wristwatches of today. Central to this are values such as distinguised restraint and the demand for precision.
The unifying element of the three new limited editions is the case material honey gold. Additionally, all three models are characterised by special movement decorations and a special dial.

The 1815 watch family, which bears the year of the founder’s birth in its name, is strongly inspired by the Trdition and thus stands above all for the classic side of A. Lange & Söhne. Their design transfers the spirit of the pocket watches of yesteryear to the mechanical wristwatches of today. Central to this are values such as forward-looking restraint and the pursuit of precision.
The unifying element of the three limited edition watches is the honey gold case material. Furthermore, all models are characterised by special movement decorations.

1815 Thin Honeygold „Homage to F. A. Lange“

With a diameter of only 38 millimetres, this timelessly elegant two-hand wtch is a mere 6.3 millimetres high. With Arabic numerals and a railway-track minute scale, the intricately hand-made enamel dial emphasises the design inspired by Lange pocket watches. This wristwatch is limited to 175 pieces.
The 1815 Thin Honeygold is powered by the in-house calibre L093.1. This hand-wound movement offers a power reserve of 72 hours.

1815 Rattrapante Honeygold „Homage to F. A. Lange“

This is the first watch from A. Lange & Söhne which places the classic complications of timekeepking – chronograph and rattrapante – in the spotlight in their pure forms. Additionally, for this watch (which is limited to 100 pieces) the honey gold case was used for the first time in combination with a black dial made from solid silver.
The 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold is powered by the new hand-wound calibre L101.2, which operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and offers excellent precision.

Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold „Homage to F. A. Lange“

Only 50 pieces of the most complex timepiece of the new anniversary edition will be made. Two of its five complications – tourbillon and fusée-and-chain transmission – have the single purpose of further increasing the accuracy of the watch. Orchestrating the perfect interaction between chronograph, rattrapante and perpetual calendar is a major watchmaking challenge. The dial is made of black-rhodiumed honey gold with raised numerals and scales that stand out from the dark background as a ground relief.
The calibre L133.1 features not only elaborate finishes but also an outstanding complexity. It consists of 684 individual parts.

These limited watches from the special anniversary edition „Homage to F. A. Lange“ will undoubtedly quicken the pulse of every collector.

Omega Goes Platinum-Gold for the New James Bond Watch

Cutting-edge style and innovation have always been essential parts of the James Bond story. In keepting with that legacy, Omega has now delivered a brand new Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition, offering plenty of high-tech details for 007 fans to enjoy.
Omega has been equipping James Bond with its Seamaster timepiece since GoldenEye in 1995. This special new release is a proud celebration of that partnership, and provides a new addition to the 007 collection.

For an exceptional look, Omega has chosen platinum-gold for the 42-mm-case. The black ceramic bezel ring features a platinum diving scale in positive relief. It frames the black enamel dial, which has been given a spiralling gun barrel design in white gold. Fans will recognize this iconic design immediately.
As part of the Omega James Bond collection that was launched last year, the new Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition also includes a hidden number 50 within the Super-LumiNova of the 10 o’clock index – a reference to the 50th anniversary of teh James Bond film „On Her Majesty’s Secret Service“. Elsewhere on the dial, you can find a 007 logo at 7 o’clock on the white enamel minute track as well as the Bond family coat-of-arms at 12 o’clock.

Turning the watch over reveals a second Bond family coat-of-arms – a much larger one – on the sapphire crystal case back. Its captivating final effect is completed with hand-engraved finishing in the finest detail.
Through the glass, you can spy the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807 – certified at the highest standards of precixion, chronometric performance, and magnetic resistance.
This Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond wears its Numbered Editon number engraved in a platinum-gold plate on the side of the case.

Platinum gold is also used for the polished-brushed buckle of the watch’s black leather strap. Additionally, Omega also offers a black rubber strap.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition

Oris’s latest high-performance limited edition diver’s watch is made in support of Coral Restoration Foundation, an organisation bringing Change for the Better to the world’s oceans. And they need it, because below the surface, a global ecological disaster is unfolding.
Over the last 30 years, scientists calculate, we have lost about 50 percent of the world’s coral reefs to coral bleaching and man-made causes. And without direct action, coral reefs could become extinct inside 80 years which would be catastrophic because they provide essential ecosystem services.
Oris supports a number of non-profits, working to secure the future of the oceans. Earlier this year, the manufacturer released the first Oris Carysfort Reef Limted Edition, a 50-piece limited edition in gold and now it’s time for the second piece in stainless steel. This year that is. Overall, this Carysfort Reef Limited Edition is the third watch Oris has produced in support of Coral Restoration Foundation.

This watch is based on the famous Oris Aquis and of course, it’s a diver’s watch. It comes in a stainless steel case which measures 43.5 mm in diameter which is on the larger side, especially for Oris. But we’re not complaining, because it gives the dial room to breathe and prevents an overcrowded, hard to read look. The case is water-resistant up to 30 bar and is equipped with a bi-directional rotating ceramic bezel. Its black and blue colors are symbolizing day and night because thanks to the engraved 24-hour scale, the bezel can show another time zone – a third one that is.

The dial is deep blue and shows the very typical, easy to read Aquis design with big hands and indices, all generously coated in Super-LumiNova for easy readability no matter the lighting conditions. The Carysfort Reef Limited Edition shows hours, minutes and seconds, all via central hands. The fourth central hand is reserved for the GMT-function. The 6 o’clock position is home to a small date window. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.

Inside the Carysfort Reef Limited Edition works the Oris calibre 798. This automatic movement is based on the Sellita SW330-1, works at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a power reserve of op to 42 hours. It is hidden behind a beautifully engraved case back.

Mido Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition

Mido presents its slimmest mechanical watch to date: The exclusive, elegant and very slim Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition. This watch is a streamlined, etheral interpretation that, thanks to its radiant appearance, perfectly reflects the brand’s classic watch heritage.
Mido created the Baroncelli collection back in 1976, celebrating the timeless beauty of the Rennes Opera House. This building has always stood out both for its rich programme of performances and for the harmony of its neoclassical construction. Mido took inspiration from its rounded architecture as well as the statues of the Muses of Antiquity placed on top of the façade.

Perfectly representing Mido and its history, which has been marked by numerous creations with timeless designs, the Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition is dedicated to fine watchmaking enthusiasts. For the dial, a deep black lacquer was chosen and diamond-cut hands and indexes with rose gold PVD-treatment stand out against the glossy background. At 6 o’clock, a small second is positioned and the Mido Mechanical signature and the „Limited Edition“ inscription at 3’clock highlight the rarity of each watch in this series.

The Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition is powered by a very slim mechanical movement. It is approximately 2.5 mm thick, making this watch the slimmest mechanical calibre to be offered by Mido. The movement is based on the ETA 7002; it operates at a frequency of 21,600 Hz and offers a power reserve of at least 42 hours. In keeping with tradition, Geneva stripes adorn the components visible throught the sapphire crystal case back which is engraved with the individual serial number of each model.
All this is housed in a polished case featuring rose gold PVD-coating, less than 7 mm high in total. The case is also water-resistant up to 3 atm.

The Baroncelli Mechanical Limited Edition consists of only 2020 watches. Mido paires every one of them with a black semi-matt crocodile-look lether strap and a folding clasp.

Soonow Instant Rainbow: The Most Colorful of Skulls

This multi-colored timepiece, integrating the HYT fluidic module, shows time and light performing their intrinsic magic. Its design is rooted in the truth that both are in constant motion. Its message is that both should always be appreciated and never restrained. Yellow and blue, two of the three primary colors, trace the paths of elapsed and future time respectively. The other colors of the rainbow spread across and around the dial with refined gradual shading. The look of the skeleton on the dial of the Soonow Instant Rainbow has a hypnotic quality. Its right eye shows the power reserve progressing smoothly through the entire color spectrum, as does the seconds indicator in the other socket. Different monochrome Super-LumiNova outlines, around the openings for the eyes, nose and mouth, draw the gaze. And the skull offers a grin full of solid gold teeth.

Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Off-Centered

The new Grande Seconde Off-Centered by Jaquet Droz is daring to create contrast, is playing with light and transforming materials. Its new theme of gold and black jade bringts together the principal codes of the Maison in a wonderful timepiece that breaks with conventions ever so elegantly.

While the design of the Grande Seconde, created by Pierre Jaquet-Droz almost three centuries ago, is ever recognizable, it is a trademark of the Maison. And in the Grande Seconde Off-Centered it is as characteristic as ever – even if it brings a resolute difference into the collection: the time is off-center. The alignment of the hours and minutes with the independent large seconds is respected but along a slightly slanted axis, from 1 o’clock to 7 o’clock.

For the dial, Jaquet Droz focuses on one of its most impressive skills: the masterful use of minerals. Mineral dials offer unique motifs time and again. The stones, sometimes dating back several millions of years, are perfectly set in scene and reveal themselves in all their magnificent singularity.
Black jade is one such treasure. Almost exclusively of Australian origin, it comes from two principal sites in the south and east of the continent. It is an extremely hard stone, thanks to the presence of metal in its composition, and requires lengthy polishing to reveal the tiny silver sinclusions that are its hidden secret. Almost imperceptible to the naked eye, they enrich black jade with a unique reflection that does not only look stunning, but allows the knowledgeable eye to distinguish it from onyx.

The barely 1 mm thick mineral sheet of the dial is paired with a 43 mm red gold case featuring warm, coppery highlights. The two time display circles and their hands are also in red gold, creating a fascinating contrast with the black background.
Inside the 3 atm water-resistant case works the Jaquet Droz 2663A.P. This in-house automatic movement works at a frequency of 4 Hz and provide a power-reserve of up to 68 hours.

The new Grande Seconde Off-Centered is a limited edition of 88 pieces. It is completed by a black alligator leather strap.

Urwerk Ur-100 Gold Edition

This new creation is the fourt episode in the UR-100 intergalactic saga, recounting the adventures of an atypical time instrument written, produced, and directed by the horological studio Urwerk. Approaching light speed, the UR-100 pushes the boundaries of technology, design, indications and functionality. Like other Urwerk models, this latest UR-100 clearly shows that science fiction has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Baumgartner and Frei. Why else would this newest model be named after the popular Star Wars droid C-3PO.

First and foremost, the UR-100 is slim – extra-flat for a satellite-geared watch – with angular contours; it’s an elongated octagon with three notched sides. The form uses subtle asymmetry, taking clues from Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon. The UR-100 is cutfrom a solid block of yellow gold, its surface satin-finished to the same pale shine as the Star Wars droid. It measures 41 x 49.7 x 14 mm and is pressure tested to 3 bar.
Topping the case is a sapphire crystal bubble reminiscent of the shape of the first Urwerk models, the dome housing the control center of this intergalactic visitor.

The UR-100’s astrophysics govern the Urwerk universe with rotating satellites displaying the hours and minutes. Isochronal revolutions create a miniature cosmic ballet, the hour satellites also displaying minutes as they traverse 120 degrees across the bright green scale. A bold red arrowhead marks the confluence of hours and minutes, offering a unique, highly legible, and intuitive time display.
At last, but certainly not least, are the discreet spacetime indications on each side of the top of the dome’s periphery. After each of the three red minute arrowheads pass the numeral 60 they disappear and then reappear again on two separate kilometer scales. The first display at 9 o’clock marks the 555 km traveled along the equator during 20 minutes of the earth’s rotation, the second display at 3 o’clock indicates the distance – 35,740 kilometres – traveled by the earth as it orbits the around the sun over 20 minutes.

The UR-100 is powered by the calibre UR 12.01. The automatic winding system is equipped with the legendary „Windfänger“. This planetary gear limits the speed of rotation of the rotor, minimizing both excessive winding and wear and maximizing reliability and lifespan.
This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and provides a power reserve of at least 48 hours.

The UR-100 C-3PO is a special edition limited to 25 pieces.

Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon

Laurent Ferrier is known for creating classical watches imbued with traditional watchmaking crafts and mechanical excellence. Now, the Genevan atelier has crafted a new contemporary watch, which upholds the company’s uncompromising approach to watchmaking: The Grand Sport Tourbillon.
It is the first model, Laurent Ferrier has equipped with a stainless steel case. The new addition features a tourbillon, double balance spring and the firm’s legendary finishing.

Laurent Ferrier was a passionate sports enthusiast, especially when it came to car racing. He competed no less tha seven times in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans and secured victory once. Accordingly, the passion for motorsport is still an important part of the firm’s DNA. And this love of sports has also led to the creation of the latest creation, the Grand Tourbillon Sport.

The Grand Tourbillon Sport is contemporary, but does not eschew the Maison’s penchant for traditional craftsmanship and technical excellence.
The wristwatch is housed in a 44mm stainless steel case and predominantly features circular satin-finished elements. The bezel is cushion-shaped but encompasses contrasting mirror-polished flanks, the middle of the case has a barrel-shaped outline. Despite all the contrasts, every constituent of the case coalesces harmoniously.

Laurent Ferrier has equípped the Grand Tourbillon Sport with an opaline dial which transitions from blue at its centre to black near its periphery. Both the hands and indexes feature orange Super-LumiNova, vitalising the overall composition.
A snailed small seconds display resides above 6 o’clock and sits beneath the tinted sapphire crystal.

The Grand Sport Tourbillon is powered by a mechanical movement that works at a frequency of 5 Hz and provides an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. Instead of showing the tourbillon on the dial side, as is usually the case, Laurent Ferrier is making it visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Now that’s understatement.
As you would expect, Laurent Ferrier has finished the movement beautifully and painstakingly.

Not only is the stainless steel case a premiere for Laurent Ferrier, there has never before been a Maison watch equipped with a stainless steel link bracelet. With its rounded edges and contrasting mirror polish, it blends beautifully with the case.

The Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon is an exclusive model, limited to 12 pieces.

SeaQ Revives Tradition of Diver’s Watches Made in Glashütte

Timepieces from Glashütte have long been valued around the world for their high-quality mechanics, elaborate finishes and timeless elegance. Since the 19th century, precise timekeepers from Glashütte have also been used as reliable instruments for navigation and for determining one’s position on land, at sea and in the air.
Based on its rich fund of experience and its historic heritage, Glashütte Original now presents a fifth collection after historic marine chronometers, observation watches, pilot and diver’s watches: the „Spezialist“. It is aimed at the fearless man who actively creates his own life. The premiere model in this new collection is the diver’s watch SeaQ, which unites history and modernity in exemplary fashion. The „Spezimatic Type RP TS 200“ developed specifically for sports divers, served as an ideal example and inspiration for the new diver’s watch.

The SeaQ is available in two versions: as the SeaQ in both a limited and an unlimited version, and as the SeaQ Panorama Date with black or blue dial.
Fifty years ago, high quality and complex functionality were already key features of Glashütte-made watches. With its limited edition SeaQ 1969, the manufactory takes up this tradition, citing the historic inscription on the black dial and the number of jewels. „Shockproof“ refers to the construction of the diver’s watch, renowned even then for its particularly stable design.
The green hands and the „Old Radium“ shade of beige on the Arabic numerals and indexes also derive from the historic predecessors. The engravings on the base plate offer decorative enhancement in the form of the trident maritime symbol, the Glashütte Original Double-G and 20 waves, which symbolize the 20 bar water resistance.

The black dial of the unlimited version of the SeaQ presents Arabic numerals, indexes and hands accentuated with the historic „Old Radium“ hue. This version also features an engraved base plate.

The SeaQ Panorama Date features the characteristic big date of Glashütte Original, which is harmoniously positioned at 4 o’clock. The dial – optionally either black or blue with a sunray finish – presents the hands, applied Arabic numerals and indexes in green or white, respectively.

Its water resistance up to 20 bar (approx. 20 metres) makes the SeaQ well equipped for changes in pressure underwater, even at greater depths. The second model, the SeaQ Panorama Date, is even water resistant up to 30 bar and therefore perfectly suitable even for professional divers. This essential water resistance of both models is enhanced by numerous details, such as the screw-down crown, the secured base plate on the SeaQ or the screwed sapphire crystal case back on the SeaQ Panorama Date.

As genuine diver’s watches, all versions feature a unidirectional, counter-clockwise rotating bezel with perceptible click, enabling certain determination of the dive time. The SeaQ convinces with a clear minute-detent and the Super-LumiNova coated triangle marking the dive start time. The ceramic inlay makes the bezel surface exceptionally scratch-resistant.
The SeaQ 1969 and the SeaQ are both powered by the manufactory’s automatic movement Calibre 39-11, which features a power resistance of 40 hours, a stop-second mechanism and a date display at 3 o’clock. Glashütte Original has built it into a stainless steel case, 39.5 mm in diameter.

For the SeaQ Panorama Date, the Glashütte watchmakers have successfully adapted the Calibre 36 to meet the challenges of timekeeping underwater. In the 36-13 version, it beats precise and stable, anchored shock-resistant in a 43.2 mm case and with a remarkable power reserve of 100 hours.

The SeaQ 1969 is available in a limited edition of 69 pieces. It comes with two alternative straps: a rubber one and one made from nylon mesh. The SeaQ and SeaQ Panorama Date is additionally offered with a stainless steel strap.

RJ: Spider-Man is back

It’s been two years since RJ has introduced its last Spider-Man watch. That’s why we were pretty euphoric when we heard about the latest collaboration with Marvel – all the more when it became clear that not just one, but two Spider-Man models came out of this association: The ARRAW Spider-Man and the ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon.

The RJ ARRAW Spider-Man is an openworked watch that features many references to the comic book hero on its dial. Below that works the skeleton movement, which comes in the form of a spider’s web. The small second, which lies between 8 and 9 o’clock, sits in it in the form of a bright red spider.
The automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of at least 48 hours. RJ built all of this in a robust black carbon case that comes with a water-resistance of 10 atm.
The RJ ARRAW Spider-Man is a limited edition of 100 pieces.

The ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon is the first complication that RJ developed and manufactured in-house. The tourbillon construction is entirely co-axial, with a peripheral display of the hours and minutes. This central tourbillon was developed by RJ not only because the manufacturer wanted an in-home complication, but primarily to increase the power reserve to 150 hours (or 6 days).
In order to maintain perfect symmetry, the RJ decided to design the case without a crown. The winding process is done by lifting a hoop found on the case of the back, then turning it like a key. To set the time, a concealed push button at 6 o’clock must be pressed. In order to provide maximum insight into the openworked movement, RJ opted for a sapphire crystal case back.
The case has a diameter of 45 mm, is water-resistant up to 10 atm and is made of black carbon or, in a second version, a red glass fibre composite and carbon. And it is equipped with RJ bumpers in rubber.
The RJ ARRAW Spider-Man is limited to 99 pieces.

RJ offers only 10 models of every version of the ARRAW Spider-Man Tourbillon.
