In the Kitchen with the Chrono Diamond Argos

The Chrono Diamond Argos is a true titan in the collection of the Swiss watch manufacturer. Reliable, robust and extremely attractive, this wristwatch is the perfect companion in almost every-day situation. This also applies to the kitchen, a place where the exact timing is of the utmost importance. So it is fitting that Chrono Diamond’s latest brand ambassador is a professional chef. But before we introduce Miguel Sánchez Navarro, let’s look at his watch, the Chrono Diamond Argos.

This elegant wristwatch features a generous 44 mm stainless steel case that is water-resistant to 5 atm. Chrono Diamond offers the Argos in pure stainless steel or with various golden PVD-coatings.
The large, clearly designed dial – created on the one hand by the large diameter and on the other hand by the slim bezel – can be read without effort at the first glance which is not only crucial in a fast-paced environment. The Argos is also a chronograph. The timekeeping function is not only popular in everyday life, but also in professional kitchens.

This wristwatch is powered by a powerful and reliable movement. Like everything else from Chrono Diamond, the movement is entirely made in Switzerland. The movement uses four central hands to display hours, minutes, the chronograph seconds and the day-date. The subdials show the running second, chronograph minutes and hours. At the 12 o’clock position you’ll find a double window which displays the date and the month.
This robust watch for all situations comes with a leather strap.

And now let’s look at the new brand ambassador who has joined the ranks of Chrono Diamond this year: Miguel Sánchez Navarro. The professional chef was born in Spain and trained at the cooking school Karlos Arguiñano which is famous beyond the Basque Country in which it lays. Afterwards, his odyssey through Michelin-starred kitches worldwide began. Navarro has worked in the Akelarre which is decorated with three stars and in various restaurants in New York, among others with Eric Ripert.
After this superb entry into the world of gastronomy, the chef traveled Latin America in search of new inspirations and flavors. Miguel Sánchez Navarro found exciting local and sesonal products as well as stimulating collaboration with local chefs.

From the very start, Sánchez Navarro was fascinated by one fact more than anything: that the process of cooking can be so extraordinarily new, creative and exciting while at the same time being invariably based on traditional techniques. Heat and time have always been central and will continue to play a crucial role in cooking in the future.

And now Chrono Diamond’s watches will help Miguel Sánchez Navarro in preparing his unique dishes. An important collaboration, because time – and of course timing – plays a crucial role in the art of cooking.

Discreet and Sleek: Chrono Diamond Zelya

Recently, Chrono Diamond has added a few new models to its already extensive collection. So we thought it is about time to take a closer look at one of them. We have picked the Zelya, a wonderfully sleek women’s model that, like all other watches from Chrono Diamond, stands for the use of high quality materials and Swiss craftsmanship.

The Chrono Diamond Zelya is the beautiful embodiment of a discreet and slender ladies‘ watch. It couldn’t be more understated. In this timepiece, nothing distracts from the true, most important role of a watch: the display of the time.
Chrono Diamond has furnished the dial with a sunburst finish whose unity isn’t interrupted by a date window or subdials. The Zelya displays hours, minutes and seconds in a classic manner using three central hands and simple applied indices. The company logo is flanked by the two diamonds, characteristic for all Chrono Diamond watches. The dial is protected by a hardened mineral glass.

The Zelya features a stainless steel case with a diameter of 36 mm and a height of only 8 mm. So the watch is on the smaller size and with its short lugs it should fit perfectly on every wrist. The case is waterproof up to 5 atm and thus up to most everyday challenges.
In the case you’ll find a reliable Swiss quartz movement working tirelessly. Opting for quartz made the moderate proportions possible in the first place.
The Zelya is completed by a beautiful and slim Milanaise bracelet.

Chrono Diamond offers a variety of different versions of this watch. It comes not only in a stainless steel version, but also with gold, pink gold or black PVD coating. It can also be chosen between different colored dials; from silver and gold to dark grey and blue. So there should be something for every taste, from plain and simple to a little more sporty and eye-catching.

Always Trending: Chronographs

Since the first chronographs were introduced, they became hugely popular and with good reason. Some feature a tachymeter scale with which lap times can be calculated, some show chronograph hours and minutes, some only minutes. All of them feature subdials and a small second. Apart from these functions, chronographs are also popular because of there sporty looks – but many of them can also be worn to the office without difficulty – they are just gloriously versatile.
We are introducing five of them today.

Two chronographs of Chrono Diamond made the cut. The first one is the Argos, named after the hero of the same name and fellow of Jason from the argonaut myth of Apollonios of Rhodos. And the watch ought to accompany its owner just as reliably. Its design is reduced and simply elegant. It shows hours, minutes, the running seconds at 9 o’clock, the chronograph minutes at 3 and the chronograph hours at 6 o’clock. The Argos shows day and month in two windows at 12 o’clock; the date is shown by a fourth central hand with a small crescent moon tip.
The Argos is powered by a quartz movement and you’ll have the choice between twelve different models: in stainless steel, with gold and pink gold PVD-coating and different coloured dials. All variations come with a leather bracelet.

The Chrono Diamond Nestor stands out with a dial that accentuates the functions of the subdials extravagantly. At 2.30 o’clock you’ll find the running seconds, at 6 o’clock the chronograph hours and at 10.30 the chronograph minutes. At 4 o’clock a small date window is placed. The dial is textured and of course, it bears the for Chrono Diamond characteristic diamonds.
Chrono Diamond offers nine different versions of the Nestor; with dark and fair dials, in stainless steel and with gold PVD-coating, with a metal bracelet or leather strap. All of them are powered by a reliable quartz movement. All-Chrono Diamond watches are Swiss Made.

The Festina Chrono Bike-Line has a longstanding tradition and is a hommage to bicycle racing. So it is no surprise that the watch manufacturer could win Richard Virenque as ambassador. The french road racing cyclist was a climber, winning the King of the Mountains competition of the Tour de France a record of seven times. During his active time he was part of the Festina Team and the partnership between them remains to this day.
The Chrono Bike chronographs come in a variety of designs. The latest model features a stainless steel 44-mm-case, the dial is protected by mineral glass. The subdials for the running seconds, chronograph minutes and chronograph hours contrast sharply with the rest of the dial.

The Longines Conquest V.H.P. comes in many different colours and designs; some in stainless steel and some in black PVD-coating. The sober case is complemented by an articulate dial. Except for the big Arabic 12, Longines opted for plain indices which are equipped with the same greenish lume as the minute and hour hands. Red accents highlight the chronograph functions – the central seconds hand, the hands of the chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock and the chronograph hours at 9 o’clock. The subdial at 6 o’clock shows the running seconds.
The Conquest V.H.P. is powered by an reliable, high-quality ETA quartz movement.

The last chronograph we’re introducing in this feature is the rugged Mathieu Legrand Avant-Garde. This model is for fans of larger, more masculine watches. The indices, the big Arabic 12, as well as the hour and minute hands are generously coated with lume, so perfect readability is given at all times, even in the dark. The chronograph seconds and the subdials are highlighted with colour. At 4.30 you’ll find a big date window.
The Avant-Garde is powerd by a Swiss made quartz movement and comes in four different versions – three with a black, one with a fair dial; in stainless steel, with a PVD-coating in gold or in a bi-colour design.

A New Chronograph: The Chrono Diamond Okeanos

Swiss watchmaker Chrono Diamond is now around for seven years and is committed to produce nicely made, reliable watches, aiming higher with each new model they create. And the Okeanos is no exception. The brand added this watch recently to its current collection, combining a toothed bezel, three subdials and a rubber strap. This handsome, classic chronograph can be worn on a daily basis.
We are sure that the Okeanos will evolve into one of the favourite models in Chrono Diamond’s collection with its rugged, beautifully balanced looks. It combines a nice case with an attractive dial, featuring an interesting woven pattern.

The dial is dominated by the highly polished indexes and hands. The hour and minute hands are slightly skeletonized and equipped with a tip made of lume, providing best legibility even at night.
The subdial at 3 o’clock is for the running seconds, the chronograph hours are displayed at 6 o’clock, the chronograph minutes at 9 o’clock. At 12 o’clock dominates a big date. We would have loved to see the date wheel matching the colour of the dial, making the date a little less intrusive, but okay.
The characteristic Chrono Diamond diamonds are replacing the indexes at 12 and 6 o’clock.

The case measures 41 millimetres in diameter and 11 millimetres in height which makes this watch not at all overly dominant. The classic design of the chronograph surely fits most wrists and we can imagine that the Okeanos will be attractive for women too, although it is promoted as a men’s watch.
The case combines a toothed, polished bezel with brushed sides and lugs, adding to an overall attractive look.

The Chrono Diamond Okeanos is powered by a Swiss made quartz movement which assures highest reliability and precision. It offers everything you’d need out of a three-register chronograph.
Highly functional and handsome, this watch will be a trustworthy partner in every situation. Chrono Diamond offers four different coloured versions.

Chrono Diamond Adone: Affordable luxury from Switzerland

Adone_stahl_frontThe Swiss have been banking on the highest standards in watchmaking ever since the first watch was produced. Strict quality control ensures customers are satisfied with their purchases. This is very definitely the case for the Chrono Diamond Adone.

The company based in the Swiss town of Zug has created a watch that tries the difficult balancing act between luxury and sportiness. I know many brands and many watches that have tried the same, but failed. The Adone comes out victorious.

To be honest: I wished the Chrono Diamond Adone had a wider strap. Because then, I’d wear it even more often than I do now. But even without it, the watch is astonishingly adaptible and can be worn for many different events.

I can’t help but notice the weight of the watch: slightly over 3.5 oz. It’s definitely noticeable you’re wearing something on your wrist. Personally, I like that feeling a lot; men’s watches are allowed to be (and should be, really) heavy. The second thing I notice is the zirconia-studded bezel. I didn’t expect zirconia could fit on a men’s watch, ever. But the Adone proves it’s possible. I like it!

I find the blend between classic and modern style elements to be really interesting; e.g., the mix of Roman and Arab numerals on the dial, or the mix of elegant elements (zirconia) and pure functionality (chronograph function). All of this goes together really well and speaks a design language that I haven’t heard before. The suggested retail price for the Adone is 1,690 Euros. If you’re interested, you better hurry: The watch is limited to 3000 pieces.

Modern diver’s watch design: Chrono Diamond Urano

Urano_braun_IP_frontSome time ago, I reported about the Chrono Diamond Furia, and the fact that I like it pretty much. Now, I’m wearing the Urano. And I like that model even a bit more.

The main reason for that is its design. I like the classic Pepsi look, it’s typically diver. The Urano plays with that theme, but without being a diver. I like it. The Pepsi design has been applied to the bezel and enforces a crisp and clean look.

The hour markers are suitably heavy, as well as the hands. Combined, they result in a watch with clear readability – something I appreciate very much. At the three o’clock position, I find the date display, small and unobstrusive. Like the Furia, the Chrono Diamond Urano comes with a chronograph function.

Despite its 44mm case (without crown), I think the Urano can be worn easily with a suit. That’s something many a monster in my collection just can’t handle. The Urano pulls it off easily. I chose the IP-brown variant, but you can also have stainless steel or black.

Playful as well: the second hand looking like a plane. This turns the Urano into an object well suited for the jet set. But this watch can do a lot better than just that. Limited edition: 3000 pieces. The price is around 1650 Euros (recommended retail price).

Chrono Diamond – my new beloved

Ariadne_rosegold_IP_front AusschnittWhat comes first to your mind when you hear the names Ariadne, Leandra and Lenya? Most definitely you think these are the names of the ex-girlfriends of Lothar Matthäus the famous german soccer player

When I hear these names I think of diamonds, design, elegance and high-class workmanship. My beloved watches from Chrono Diamond!

They are not quite a steal. So I was really thinking: should I spend so much money for a watch? But when I saw that a famous online shopping portal was offering the watches for 70% under the retail price I did not think twice and ordered Ariadne (who should become my new beloved very soon).

Since I like earthy tones and warm colors I decided to order Ariadne Rosegold IP. The watch case has a warm rose gold color. The real leather watch strap has a reddish brown color. It goes perfectly together.

Ariadne_rosegold_IP_side

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! The designers of Chrono Diamond obviously know that! Many sparkling zirconia and even two real diamonds can be found on the dial. The watch case is made of gilded stainless steel. Ariadne has a really nice size. The watch is not too small but also not too big. The quartz movement is made in Swiss. Unfortunately, 2999 other girls can have Ariadne too. The watch is limited to 3000 pieces. But I can cope with that.

I really love my new watch and I’m sure we’ll spend a long and happy time together. And hey …. Lothar Matthäus. Maybe you should give your next girl friend a Chrono Diamond watch as a present – I’m sure this will make her stay longer 🙂
