The Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum: Montblanc’s new World Timer

Montblanc’s latest offering is a World Timer: The Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum.
This watch has a round 41 mm by 12 mm case, which is a resonable size, considering all the information presented by the dial. The bezel is polished and the sides are brushed, as well as the curved lugs.

static.squarespace.comThe center of the dial is sapphire crystal, the continents are half dark, half light, because the 24-hour-dial on the outer perimeter rotates on multiple layers and is visible through the sapphire center, showing day and night. The spaces between the cities and corresponding hours are quite generous, so the watch appears to be rather legible. The actual time is marked by rhodium-plated dauphine hands. The different elements on the dial appear to be spot on at first glance.

Inside the Spirit Orbis Terrarum beats the automatic caliber MB29.20.

The watch is available in stainless steel or 18 carat red gold. The price for the steel version (with a leather strap) is about 5.000 €, for the red-gold version it’s about 13.900 €. For this level of aesthetic quality and in-house manufacturing this is very well-priced.
