Passionate and Glamorous: The New PanoMatic Luna

Glashütte Original celebrated on the International Day of the Kiss, July 6, 2018, the magic of love and passion. With a special limited edition, that truly comes from the heart, a beautiful women’s watch.
Studded with diamonds and rubies, the PanoMatic Luna proudly wears the colour of love, permitting this mechanical ladies watch to give its classic moon phase display a new, exceptionally enticing appearance.

The dial of the new PanoMatic Luna unites two romantic elements in an elegant composition. On the background of a white mother-of-pearl dial, the softly curved moon in relief and the silver-coloured, starry night sky reveal a poetry all their own. At 2 o’clock, one finds the vaulted opening of the moon phase display. The curve of the moon is the product of great manual skill and attentive diamond milling in the watchmaker’s own dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany.
This spectacle of the changing crescent moon is complemented by 18 ruby indexes, which offer luminous red reflections on the opposite of the dial, and serve as a frame for the off-centre hour and minute display. They are positioned together with the small seconds – in classic Pano style – along a vertical axis in the left half of the dial, while the moon phase display and characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Datum adorn the right side.

What, without the brilliance of the stars, would a romantic night sky be? The bezel on the new PanoMatic Luna is set with 64 brillant-cut diamonds that reflect light with every movement. They form a glamorous frame for the round, 39.4 mm stainless steel case, whose crown is adorned on the right side by a ruby. Sapphire crystal, antireflective on both sides, assures optimal views from the dial side.
Ticking within the PanoMatic Luna is the manufactory’s own calibre 90-12 automatic movement, which can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The latter opens up the view to the refined decorations on the heart of the watch, and to the coveted duplex swan-neck fine adjustment from Glashütte Original. A great many other traditional elements of Glashütte watchmaking offer irrefutable proof of the origin of the watch, among the the three-quarter plate and characteristic Glashütte decorative finishes.

The watch is held in place on the wrist by a radiant red Louisiana alligator leather strap, which together with a pin buckle ensures a secure and stylish fit. As mentioned earlier, this PanoMatic Lunar is a limited edition of only 50 pieces.

Jaquet Droz Ateliers d’Art: Lady 8 Flower

Today we look at an extraordinary ladies watch; a timepiece imbued with the spirit of the jeweler’s craft – the new Jaquet Droz Lady 8 Flower. Minimalist and richly ornate by turns, the Lady 8 and its distinctive undulating silhouette have made their marks as touchstones of femininity, elegance and watchmaking refinement.

The Lady 8 Flower, a fusion of the arts and crafts Jaquet Droz is known to master, is made up of two superimposed circles creating a figure of eight. The eight is an emblematic number for the brand and a symbol of harmony, perfection and infinity. The lower circle features a delicate butterfly, its wings outstretched. Two versions are available: one with the butterfly’s wings painted and engraved in translucent red enamel on a guilloché background; the other, incorporating jewels, features a butterfly set with blue sapphires and portrait against snow-set diamonds. The upper circle reveals a lotus flower under a sapphire crystal dome. Representing serenity and poetry, and sacret to many Asian cultures, the flower has been crafted with the utmost care. Each petal is individually enameled or engraved to give its back a perfect satin finish.
The watch shows only hours and minutes.

As a mysterious bud or fully opened jewel-like bloom, this animation is not simply a pure vision of naturalistic and poetic beauty. By pressing a push-button the lotus flower opens, revealing its diamond heart. For Jaquet Droz, the timepiece also presented a new technical challenge: accommodating the two mechanisms, the watch’s and the automaton’s – within a 35 mm diameter case, while ensuring one never interferes with the other.
The Lady 8 Flower is powered by a mechanical movement which beats with 21,600 v/ph and provides a power reserve of 38 hours.

The case comes with brilliant cut diamonds either in red or white gold and water-resistant up to 38 hours. Jaquet Droz limited both versions; the red gold one to 28 pieces, the white gold Lady 8 Flower to 8 pieces.

Still Searching for a Summer-Watch? Look No Further!

Eternal summer for the wrist? Nomos Glashütte has you covered because with the Aqua series life’s a beach, every day.
The new watches from Nomos Glashütte may not look like it but they come with a licence to dive. With these watches one is exactly right at the pool or beach. The Aqua-series consists of two basic models, the Ahoi and the Club. They come in four colours and different diameters to fit both men and women. That makes 16 models in total.

The Nomos Glashütte Ahoi

The Ahoi is one of the younger additions to Nomos Glashüttes collection; the watch was first introduced in 2013 and has been designed as a dive watch from the start. Unlike other watches from Nomos Glashütte the Ahoi is equipped with luminous indices and hands, a screw-drown crown and a more sturdy case. The latter got a little bit smaller in the new collection (Nomos shrunk it from 40 to 36.3mm) and the new Aqua resists water-pressure up to 20 bar or 200 meters. The Club features the same characteristics but it looks a little different. The case is rounder, a little less edgy and comes with 37mm in diameter, the same goes for the design of the dial.
The Aquis watches are powered by the ultra-thin in-house calibre DUW 3001, which was introduced by Nomos Glashütte two years ago. This automatic movement works at a frequency of 3 Hz and provides a power-reserve of 42 hours when fully wound.

I think we don’t have to talk about the Bauhaus-inspired design of the Neomatik dials – we all know them from former Nomos collections and it’s quite distinctive and well-loved. For the Ahoi-watches Nomos has broadened the hands a little bit and equipped them with a luminous colour which appears white by day and glows green in the dark.
With a water-resistance up to 200 meters the Ahoi-watches are suitable for swimmers and recreational divers. Unlike other dive watches the Aqua-watches are equipped with a sapphire case back, which allows a look in the movement.

The Nomos Glashütte Club

Both the Ahoi and the Club Neomatik come in four different colours – the silver and atlantik dials we already know from other collections. New are „Signalrot“ and „Signalblau“ (wie fell head over heals for the latter – just saying). The watches with the silver dial are straightforward classy and won’t attract any sideglances on your daily commute; one can’t say that about the bright red and blue ones. These colours pop on the wrist and stand out, but in the best way possible. All watches come with a bright orange seconds hand and a sapphire crystal.

All Nomos Aqua are equipped with a textile bracelet that resists water (salty or otherwise) just as well as the watches itself.

What can we say – we love the new Nomos Aqua-collection. These watches are classically beautiful with a fun twist and quite sturdy. Perfect for the summer and for every occasion.

Bulgari Bulgari Lady: The New Colours Of Timelessness

A watchmaking and style revolution at its launch in 1977, the Bulgari Bulgari watch has since become a reference model. A sign of recognition among ladies of Italian high society in the late 1970s, it has since returned to the forefront on their daughters‘ wrists – to the point of becoming a style factor and a rallying point for a new generation of young women. Bulgari is now offering them an even more special treat with a dedicated feminine version of the Bulgari Bulgari watch, enabling them to enliven every outfit with a splash of colour.

High fashion meets contemporary design in the new Bulgari Bulgari Lady. Its singularity lies as much in its style imbued with a timeless architecture recalling the columns of Ancient Rome, as in its extremely current, lively appeal, making it a fashion accessory as well as an up to date timepiece. It comes in three sizes – 26, 33 and 37mm in diameter – fitted with alligator leather straps in vivid colours inspired by the stones for which Bulgari is known. Each strap is easily interchangeable so as to match every style and meet every expectation.
All dials in the Bulgari Bulgari Lady series are white mother of pearl or sunburst satin-brushed brown lacquered. Every one of them uses diamond hour markers.

Simple – yet sophisticated – the cases are available in steel, pink gold/steel and pink gold versions. Several dial colour variations, and a version with a gemset bezel round off the many possibilities of adorning the wearer’s day. The cases are water-resistant up to 30 metre and all bezels – except the stone-stubbed one – are endowed with the characteristic bulgari lettering.
The crown is engraved with the double brand logo and set with a pink stone cabochon.

The new Bulgari Bulgari naturally adopts the purest watchmaking principles by enabling simple and accurate reading of the hours, minutes and seconds.
The 33 and 37 mm watches are powered by a mechanical automatic movement, the calibre B77 which also provides a 42-hour power reserve. For the 26mm version, Bulgari uses a quartz movement.

The result is a playful and joyful way of approaching feminine watchmaking, endowed with a fresh appeal that is both charmingly elegant and unmistakably Italian.

The Mathieu Legrand Mille Étoiles Sparkles, Glistens, Twinkles

Mathieu Legrand is adding some serious bling-bling to its current collection with the new Mille Étoiles. The watch manufacturer is introducing this new watch in two different versions – in gold and rosé gold – both equally cool. We’ve heard there might be a third one in the making but we couldn’t get our hands on it – or confirmation by the manufacturer for that matter- just yet.
This women’s watch is a real head-turner due to the numerous zirconia on its dial and with one of these two you are definitely going to draw attention to your wrist – and yourself. The Mille Étoiles is not for the watch lover who likes an understated look because with one of these watches a place in the spotlight is guaranteed.

The Mathieu Legrand Mille Étoiles features a fully paved dial, a small date window at 3 o’clock and a big small seconds including a black railway minuterie at 6 o’clock. The manufacturer has decided against traditional numerals or indexes and opted for coloured zirconia. These are of a deep blue in the rose gold version and of a bright green in the gold version. The dial is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
The bezel, the sides of the case as well as parts of the bracelet and the clasp are polished. This parts contrast nicely with the brushed parts, generating an overall charming look. The case measures 40 mm in diameter and is water resistant up to 10 atm.

The Mathieu Legrand Mille Étoiles is powered by a Swiss made quartz movement, providing great reliability combined with highest precision. It lies within a stainless steel case with PVD coating in gold or rosé gold.

Overall, this beautifully balanced watch will make for a stunning, reliable companion. It can easily be worn every day as well as on special occasions, and with its moderate size it should fit on most wrists. We already love the Mille Étoiles and are sure, you will too.

Impressive in Blue: The Chopard Imperiale Joaillerie Watch

Chopard just introduced the newest member to its Imperiale line. The collection was reinvented in 2010 and now the manufacturer succeeds once more in summing up the quintessence of style and elegance in a watch.
Synonymous with splendor, power and extreme passions, empires of all eras end every part of the world continue to exercise an inexhaustible and enduring creative influence. After the Coffret de l’Impératrice, launched in September 2015 and celebrating Byzance and the magic of the East, Chopard now draws inspiration for its latest creation from South America and the heart of the Inca civilization.

chopard_imperiale_joaillerie_1-2

This secret watch combines the best of Jewellery and Fine Watchmaking. Chopard designed a watch that is as much a magnificent bracelet as a precious timepiece. Like a mosaic from the pre-Colombian era, the dial cover is entirely set with brilliant-cut diamonds and turquoises in subtly varied shades. Its almost hypnotic radiance exudes an aura of mystery and seduction.
When the dial opens, the signature symbols of the Imperiale collection appear, those details that endow this jewellery creation with its legendary distinction and strength of character: graceful Roman numerals, tapered hands reminiscent of combat daggers; as well as the famous motif evoking the embroideries adorning the hangings and cushions on which monarchs placed their insignia. The latter pattern appears on the watch cover mosaic, set with diamonds on the bracelet lugs, as well as lending an original touch to the seconds display; while the dial centre is stamped with a radiant sunburst guilloché decoration in a nod to the Inca dynasty’s fascination for this supreme heavenly body.

The case in Fairmined white gold is entirely set with diamonds and houses a veritable treasure: a self-winding L.U.C 96.12-L movement entirely designed, developed and hand-decorated in the Chopard Manufacture workshops in Fleurier.
The Imperiale Joaillerie watch is fitted with blue or turquoise damask straps picking up the unmistakable Imperiale motif or with turquoise alligator straps.

For the Ladies: Malte Tourbillon Openworked

The Malte collection from Vacheron Constantin with its emblematic barrel shape gets two new members. The pink gold creations are joining this collection epitomising a blend of distinctive presence and understatement. This interpretation of the Malte Tourbillon Openworked reveals its airy geometry playing with light and shade.
In 2014, Vacheron Constantin created Caliber 2780 SQ – a barrel-shaped caliber that was also skeletonised – beating at the heart of a Malte Tourbillon Openworked in a platinum case. The collection is now joined by a Malte Tourbillon Openworked model with a pink gold case.

Malte 30135-000R-8973

Firmly rooted in the Vacheron Constantin aesthetic heritage since 1912, the tonneau shape is interpreted in the Malte collection through a range of creations. These models feature a distinctively curved design, contemporary lines and an understated display. This curved case middle perfectly moulding the shape of the wrist symbolises the Malte collection and its two new references. It measures 38 x 48,2 mm and is water-resistant up to 3 bar.
Inside the case lays an entirely openworked and hand-engraved barrel-shaped tourbillon movement. Alternating shadow and light effects enable the Vacheron Constantin Caliber 2790 SQ to reveal an original architectural decor playing with geometrical shapes. The hand-engraved three-dimensional mosaic is enhanced by a Maltese cross-shaped tourbillon.
Around 540 hours of workmanship (from the development of the caliber to the manual finishing of each of its 246 components) are required to achieve the balance between a tourbillon mechanism and the openworked aesthetic.

Coated in pink gold, this mechanism powering indications of the hours, minutes, seconds, date and power reserve, appears through a transparent sapphire dial rimmed by a silver-toned ring and punctuated by 11 baton-type hour-markers as well as an applied Roman (XII) numeral in pink gold.

The curved shape and the inherent style of this watch is complemented by an alligator leather brown strap secured by a folding clasp.

Perrelet: The New LAB Collection

At Baselworld 2016, Perrelet launched its very latest creation: LAB. The new model heralds a casual chic collection complementing the current collections. Building on its mastery of all phases involved in producing a watch in-house via its own Manufactures, ranging from the development and production of movement components to designing and crafting the cases, dials and finishing work.
This timepiece remains true to the values and DNA of the brand with its signature „dial in motion“. While the many variations of the latter include the classic Double Rotor, the Turbine or the Amytis for women, Perrelet has opted for a discreet and refined version in the LAB line.

maxresdefault

The stainless steel 42 x 42 mm case is cushion-shaped with soft, rounded lines along with brushed and polished lugs. The case middle features a vertical decoration composed of tiny raised rectangles. The polished octagonal bezel with its satin-brushed profile endows the model with considerable character. The case back fitted with a sapphire crystal is assembled with six screws, forming a sturdy and strong case guaranteed water-resistant to 5 bar.

Perrelet Lab CollectionParticular attention has been devoted to the architecture of the dial boasting an original construction. A three-dimensional effect is achieved by the multi-level structure graced with a variety of finishes. The dial available in silver-toned, anthracite or black versions features a central part adorned with vertical lines, while the rim is circular-brushed. The cut-out hour markers are enhanced with white Super-LumiNova and applied to a sapphire crystal ring. The decision to use a transparent element was specifically intended to enable the owner of the LAB watch to admire the most distinctive feature of this timepiece: its oscillating weight.
While the latter is generally visible through the case back, the motion of the oscillating weight can also be observed while reading the time. This was made possible by the calibre P-411, a in-house movement.

Displaying the hours, minutes and seconds by central hands and the date at 6 o’clock, the LAB has a 42-hour power reserve.
The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap and a stainless steel clasp.

Go All-In With The Mr. Jones King & Queen Watches

Mr. Jones King & QueenMr. Jones is known to design really unusual watches for both, men and women and the King and Queen are no exception.
These watches are two halves of a pair of watches based on the classic playing card characters of the King and Queen of Hearts. The watches feature hands of cards to depict the minutes while the hours are shown at the royal breast in form of a „jumping hour“.

So, how do you read the time exactly? The minutes are indicated by hands of cards, every 10 minutes is marked by a different hand: Ace – 0 minutes past, 10 – 10 minutes past, 2 – 20 minutes past, 3 times 10 – half past, Ace and 4 – 40 minutes past, Ace and 5 – 50 minutes past. There is also a grey marker on the dial (like a shadow of the playing cards) to allow you to read the times between the hands of cards. By observing how far the leading or trailing edge of the cards is from the marker shape, the minutes can be judged. Here’s a chart to clarify that a little:

How to read the minutesThe use of the playing cards symbolises the transitory nature of fortune – lucky streaks, while always welcome, are only as short lived as those runs of bad luck. The watch is a gentle reminder to keep your cards close to your chest, but to be bold and go all-in when fate has dealt you a winning hand.

Mr. Jones QueenThe cases of this watches are made from polished stainless steel, coming in the typical shape of all the watches of Mr. Jones. They are 37 mm in diameter. Every case houses an automatic mechanical movement and is water resistant up to 5 ATM. Every watch comes on a woven stainless steel strap.

Mr. Jones KingThe watches are produced in the London workshop of Mr. Jones. All components are printed by hand before assembled and regulated also by hand.
Retail price for the King and Queen watches is £195 a piece and can be purchased online here. The King and Queen are limited editions; there will be only 100 pieces available of every watch.

The system which displays the minutes sounds a little complicated, and maybe it takes a little while to get used to the system. But one can imagine this a little price to pay for wearing such a fun timepiece.

Minimalism from Iceland: The Arc-Tic Retro

1424799078683Maybe you’ve never heard of Arc-Tic, based in downtown Reykjavik. It’s a small label, producing beautiful watches.. Now you can’t say that anymore, because we are introducing the Retro-watches of this Icelandic watchmanufacturer today.

Arc-Tic-Retro-The Retro-watches from Arc-Tic emanate a relaxed Nordic coolness. The Scandinavians are best known for their sparse minimalistic design, which made their furniture (and especially Ikea, yes) a huge hit world-wide. Now, we all can wear their famous style on our wrists; austerity with a splash of color.

The Arc-Tic Retro-watches are beautiful and simple three-hander. These quartz-powered watches are undeniably wearable and absolutely affordable. The only color on the dial are the red seconds hand and a red hyphen. These watches stand out in their starkness with their polished stainless steel case, generously-sized rhodium hour markers, rhodium logo and rhodium hands. These features catch the light – and the attention.
Arc-Tic-Retro-WatchYou won’t find any Super LumiNova on the dial, the hands or hour-markers; you will definitely need light to spot the time. That’s not for everyone but this decision emphasizes the retro-look considerably.

The case comes in two sizes – 36mm or 42mm in diameter – with 8mm in height. Both sizes are available with a white or black dial like mentioned earlier. The white ones come with a genuine honey-colored calfskin strap, the ones with the black dial with a black strap, including red stitching. The straps can be easily removed and replaced with a NATO-strap which is included in the delivery, its colors based on the Icelandic flag.

Arc-Tic-Retro-Watch-The Arc-Tic Retro is powered by a Swiss-made quartz movement and is water resistant to 50m. The case back is beautifully decorated, showing a map of Iceland, compass points and degree markings; also the Arctic Circle which inspired the name of the company.

The retail price of the Arc-Tic Retro watch is around 213€ and the watches are only available in stores around Iceland or from the Arc-Tic online store.
