New family member: The Sarpaneva Korona K01 Northern Lights

Stepan-Sarpaneva-Korona-K0-Northern-Lights-Lume-aBlogtoWatch-11Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva introduced a new member to his Korona family in Basel: The Northern Lights. The new watches are inspired by the cold, long and dark winter nights, in which the beautiful colorful northern lights appear on the sky.

The theme is represented by the luminous sandwich dials, which are available in blue, green and violet. The lume is a hardened composite that gets its own plate underneath the top, scalloped portion of the dial. That gives the watch a immensely unique look. In normal daylight, the bottom layer with the lume serves as an off-white foundation for the dial, providing a fair amount of legibility.

Hour markers are set upon the top layer of the dial. Their lume glows green against all three dial color variants. On 6 o’clock is the face of the Sarpaneva moonphase complication located.
The watch is 46mm in diameter, available in stainless steel or solid gold case, it is double secured water-resistant to 5 ATM.

Inside the watch is a modified Soprod A10 working with a 42-hour power reserve, like in the other Sarpaneva watches. Each color will be limited to eight pieces, available for 14.500€ each.
