2014 Omega released his Seamaster Aqua Terra > 15,000 Gauss, one of the most anti-magnetic mechanical watches around.
With the Gauss, it’s all about the anti-magnetism. Mechanical watch movements are traditionally made of mostly metal which means, that these movements are susceptible to magnetic fields. Magnetism can act to completely screw up the accuracy of a movement as well as magnetize the metal in the watch. So magnetism should be avoided when it comes to mechanical watches.

Normal mechanical watches can resist up to approximately 90 GauOmega-Seamaster-Aqua-Terra-15000-Gauss-10ss, traditional anti-magnetic watches up to 1,000 Gauss, but the Omega can resist about 15,000 Gauss. This means, the Omega 15,000 Gauss can compete with the Rolex Milgauss. To achieve this goal without using a magnetic shield, Omega produces the movement without metal/ferrous metal parts. The new in-house made Caliber 8508 is built on the 8500 movement family but has some unique parts.
The 8508 movement has also a Co-Axial escapement, power reserve of 60 hours and is COSC Chronometer certified.

The 15,000 Gauss is a dressed-up Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra with a banded black and yellow seconds hand along with a yellow ring of peripheral minute numerals; the black face is textured with vertical lines. The watch has a sporty twist but is quite handsome – more dress watch than sport watch. The steel case is a typical Seamaster with a mixture of polished and brushed surfaces.It isn’t a true diver, but is water resistant up to 150 m.
